AN INTERESTING VISIT

Virginia T. Faulk 8

One time I took a visit to Washington. My mother was with me. It was about the middle of July.

I saw some little ponies in a field on my way. Some were black and some were spotted.

I saw a parrot and heard talk. It said, "Polly wants a cracker".

There was a little monkey on the pavement. He had a little jacket on with a pocket in which he put the money in that people gave him for dancing.

We saw an elephant going up the street. His master was leading him. He had large ears and a long trunk, which he used to carry food to his mouth.

There was a colored man in the Union Station with three little poodle dogs. He carried them in a basket. He let them out for a little exercise and to play.

I saw a great many other things too.
