A CHRISTMAS TREE IN OUR CHURCH

Willie F. Turner, 8

Last Christmas we had a Christmas tree in our church.

We practiced several times each week. We would go from school with our teacher to the church to practice. I had two recitations. I had a candle in one of them.

The men got the tree and put it in for us. It was a pretty sight. It was trimmed with bright balls and tinsel, popcorn and all kinds of nice things.

When the night came, father and mother went with me. We went early so that we could practice before the people came.

I got an orange, and a poke of candy and a purse. My Sunday school teacher gave me a handkerchief.
