This Indenture made the 25^th day of May in the year of our Lord one.....and hundred & thirty two between Samuel Cootes of the County of....ingham & State of Virginia of the one part and John Rice of the County...State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that whereas John Funk......County and State aforesaid by his certain Indenture commonly called a Deed......t bearing date the 5^th day of February in the year 1816 and admitted.....cord in the Clerks Office of the County Court of Rockingham.....grant bargain & convey to George Dove his heirs & assigns......tain tract or parcel of land in the said Indenture or Deed in......t mentioned and described containing or estimated as containing two hundred......eighty acres for the purpose of securing the payment of certain debts in.......Indenture or Deed in Trust mentioned to a certain James Ewing with full......and authority to and in the said George Dove his heirs executors or administrators........to sell and dispose and convey to the purchaser of the .....or parcel....for the purposes in the said Indenture or Deed in Trust mentioned and.......the execution of the said Indenture the said George Dove........this life without having made or published any last will and testament and the said Samuel Cootes having administered on the Estate of the........George Dove deceased and being as administrator as aforesaid required......James Ewing to advertise and sell a part of the said tract or parcel.....for the purposes in the said deed in Trust mentioned and having....compliance with the conditions and requisions of the.....ture or Deed in Trust advertised the time & place of sale of........Cootes as Administrator as aforesaid did on the 12^th of May........Expose to sale at public auction to the highest bidder for......Turley Town three and three fourth acres being the hereinafter.......conveyed three and three fourth acres of the said tract or parcel.....appurtenances to the said three & ¾ acres belonging or appurxxxxxxx......John Rice being the highest bidder at eighty five.......cents became the purchaser the same being struck..........witnesseth that the said Samuel Cootes as...........execution....the said Deed in Trust and...........five dollars twenty five cents..........the debts .......heirs and assigns foxxxx.............three acres & three quarters.........side of the great road South.........from the corner N56W8 poles to........N52 W72 ½ poles to a hickory N40 Exxxx.........67 poles to a stone near a spring in a stake in the road thence ? poles and.....being a part of the said tract of land conveyed.........Together with all and singular the appurtenances........in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said.........land with its appurtenances unto the said John Rice......& assigns forever and the said Samxxx.......administrator as aforesaid the said three and three fourth.......hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto the said.....
